About.
Ladysmith Furniture founder Laura Archer found herself in a similar situation to many 20somethings— little time and less money to furnish her first home. With a deep admiration for the quality and style of antique and vintage furniture, she set out with a mission to source all the pieces she would need from local vendors.
Some of the pieces were in remarkable condition, and others were a little worse for the wear but had great bones. The experience of rehabilitating and restoring those pieces ignited a passion for the furniture’s history and craftsmanship. Laura set out to learn as much as she could, completing all projects with respect and reverence for the pieces, understanding full well that they genuinely don’t make them like they used to!
Over the last six years, Laura has refined her carpentry skills to bring life to heirlooms and forgotten pieces alike. She has transitioned soft furnishings into this century with quality upholstery and sewing facelifts. She has created custom pieces with new and reclaimed woods. No project is too big or small, and she is lucky to be doing something she loves each day!

This rocker has been in their family for 3 generations and I was honored to refresh the wood and recover it in the client’s selection of fabric!
Antique Radio
The client’s radio had been in storage for several years, so the shellac finish on the radio had deteriorated. Additionally, the client used Pledge for many years, and the silicone buildup called for a full restore. The piece was scraped, and a custom garnet shellac was mixed to match the original. Then, the entire piece was waxed to protect the new finish.
